Old Atlantic County Jail
Old Atlantic County Jail
Mays Landing, New Jersey
The Old Atlantic County Jail sat empty for many years. Its roof had collapsed into the 2nd floor and vegetation had taken root among the debris. After this major renovation by LWDMR Architects, the building was completely stabilized structurally and the roof was re-built with salvaged truss members and components, and new regional lumber to replace missing or severely deteriorated sections.
New high efficiency HVAC systems was also installed along with new electrical, lighting, fire alarm and fire protection systems. The jail was linked to the existing adjacent court house with a new two-story glass enclosed entry structure.
